2nd Phase Training of IPS Probationers July 2013

As part of the teaching assignment for the 2nd phase training of IPS probationers, I have been visiting National Police Academy, Hyderabad for last 10 years. It is a day long lecture-cum-workshop with the probs, making it a daunting task to hold the attention of the class. Thanks to the Smartphones that keep them alert but in 'heads down' position, not to the liking of the guest resource. What pleasantly surprised me this year was the unusual attention and and 'heads-up' position of the class. On my compliments to the class a smart reply came from one of them...' Aaj k Samaaj me sirf wohi banda sar utha k chal sakta hai, ..... jiske pas WhatsApp na ho'. The Academy has banned use of mobile phones in the class and ensured it too!
