Sanjay Patnaik, the old buddy

On 24 June Sanjay Patnaik, old friend and presently Director, Satyajit Ray Film and Technology Institute, Kolkata released an anthology of selected Rabindra Sangeet, translated in Odia by him. He also wrote the music for few selected poems out of the anthology in distinct 'Rabindra Sangeet' flavour which have been sung by eminent Odia artistes and released the music CD on the occasion. Sanjay himself has sung a "baul". The dignitaries present on the occasion were Hara Prasad Das, Gyana Pith awardee Odia poets, Ramakant Rath & Sitakanta Mohapatra, song writer Santanu Mohapatra etc. Kudos to Sanjay for his attempts to popularise the timeless creations of Nobel Laureate Rabinranath in his own mother tongue, first of its kind as told by the guests. We are proud of you, buddy.
